Camposol Free Community Sports news and update

Another busy month has passed for Camposol Free Community Sports and there are lots of plans for the upcoming summer months that you definitely do not want to miss

The first Camposol Free Community Sports (CFCS) summer party will be held on August 20, organised in conjunction with Sector D Gardening and Community group.

There will also be a mixed doubles petanca competition with some great prizes, so get practising!

The Walking football sessions on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays are as popular as ever, the sessions are always fun and friendly with lots of encouragement for all who participate. These sessions are not all about winning and it’s an inclusive environment for all. The teams are always mixed and the aim is to get people together, exercising and back into sport.

Cycle tours are organised by Stephen Deer and as shown on his YouTube channel (Exploring Murcia and beyond by Ebike), the group headed down to Bolnuevo on their last outing together. Why not hire an ebike from Sunshine cycles for the next outing and join the fun? CFCS would also like to give thanks and a very warm welcome to Nighthawks Couriers as new sponsors of the cycling group.

The end of April also saw the final games of the inaugural Spring Petanca League.

After a couple of months of fierce competition, the Camposol based Los Leones took the title in a season where they remained unbeaten. The league and games were a wonderful success, matches were competitive but friendly and many new friends were made.

Thanks must go to Alan Wood for organising the petanca activities and the League sponsor 2Let2Sell2Buy.com for their support. The players look forward with great anticipation to the 2023 Autumn league. (watch this space…)

If you play petanca at a club or with a group of friends (6 players) have a home ground within 30 minutes of Camposol and would like to be part of the Autumn league, please contact Alan Wood through Camposol Free Community Sports on Facebook, or you can always come along to the Petanca games held every Friday from 4 pm on Calle Piteras Sector D to get involved.

Making a better environment on Camposol D

The Camposol D Community and Gardening Group was originally formed in March 2009 by the residents of D sector to improve and provide a better environment for the residents and visitors to the Community of ‘D’.

Membership of the group soon gathered pace and it was necessary to provide a way to communicate what was happening within the Camposol D Community and Gardening group, so that the members, volunteers and residents were made aware of what was happening within the Community (not all members live here permanently).

Throughout the past years there have been many projects completed, this is thanks to the volunteers and generosity of the public donations that have been provided to the group (all work is funded by donations, without this support they could not fund any of the work).

The Group meet every Wednesday at 10am for a few hours to carry out gardening, weeding or any projects necessary.

Due to the high temperatures of the summer months, there is no gardening activity as such, but they have established 2 watering teams to help maintain the planted areas around D Sector. They meet at 9.30am at Calle Ajedreas for the first team, then at 6.00pm at Calle Mentas for the second team. This ensures that they can cover the majority of the 3.5 miles perimeter of D sector as much as possible. As with everything they do, the achievements are subject to available volunteers on the day, and are constantly trying to recruit more people to assist.

The group is free to join and is open to any home owner who is resident or non resident of Camposol D Sector, or any long term property renter on D sector. Application to join is via the website. Members, whether resident or not, can ask for projects to be completed via the 'project request' form on the website. All D Sector events are open to anyone on any sector of Camposol.

Every Friday to help raise much needed funds, the Group have a bucket collection, at the recently constructed permanent shelter adjacent to the Jubilee Gardens, on the dual carriageway from 9.00 - 11.30 am.
