ARCHIVED - Free bus rides in Madrid during rush hour
Spain’s capital will offer the free service in the first half of September to promote the use of public transport
In a further effort to promote sustainable transport throughout Spain, the City Council of Madrid has announced that from September 1, for two weeks, buses of the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) will be free of charge between 7.00 and 9.00. This does not include the Airport Express line.

In addition, the new TransBus initiative will be launched on September 1 which allows users to transfer between different EMT buses for up to an hour. From now on the tickets will cost just 1.80 euros, compared to the old price of 1.50 euros for a single-use ticket. This measure will be permanent.
