As the end of the year draws near, non-resident property owners in Spain are reminded of their obligation to file the Non-Resident Tax (NRT), known as Modelo 210. This annual tax, due by December 31 of each year, applies to anyone who owns property in Spain but is not considered a tax resident.

As tax experts Gestoría Carvajal explain, the tax amount is not a fixed rate but instead calculated on the ‘fiscal value’ of the property, as assessed by the local town hall. Specific percentages and rates are then applied to determine the final amount payable.
