Benidorm's Christmas lights up with fun for all ages
From Santa visits to magical shows and a lively Christmas Eve bash, the festivities run right through to Three Kings
Benidorm is pulling out all the stops this holiday season, with a packed programme of family-friendly events designed to spread cheer until January 6. Mayor Toni Pérez called it “a cross-departmental effort involving several municipal departments,” blending free outdoor fun in Christmas Square with ticketed shows at the Cultural Center. There's something for everyone, from little ones to grandparents, including two beautiful nativity scenes open free of charge.Kicking things off right, the monumental nativity in Plaza de SS MM Reyes de España opened on December 6, while the traditional one from ACR La Barqueta on Tomás Ortuño Street welcomes visitors from December 8. Both stay up until January 6, perfect for a relaxed stroll.
Santa Claus is making his annual pit stop at the Christmas House on December 19-23, popping in from 12pm-2pm and 6pm to 8pm. Later, the Royal Postman collects letters in Christmas Square from January 2-4 at 6pm. Keep an eye out for the Three Kings' Camp in the gardens around City Hall from January 2-5, building excitement ahead of their grand parade on the evening of January 5.
Free fun in Christmas Square
The square buzzes daily with kid-centric shows – here's a quick peek at the highlights:
- December 18 6pm: Paqui Mora Dance Studio performance.
- December 19 6pm: Boogie Block Dance Studio.
- December 20: 'The Magic Nanny' at 12.30pm, followed by children's shows at 6pm.
- December 21: Magic show at 12.30pm, then more kids' fun at 6pm.
- December 22 6pm: Puppet show with 'Grandma Plum'.
- December 23 6pm: Mini-disco with Santa's family.
- Daily from December 25-28 and beyond: Children's performances at 6pm, plus specials like 'The Wolf and his friends' musical (December 29, 12.30pm), Frozen mini-disco (December 30, 12.30pm), and superhero vibes on January 5 at 12.30pm.
Don't miss the Cultural Center gigs: Mago Hugo's “Goosebumps” magic on Friday December 26 at 6pm, “Coco: The Musical” on Saturday December 27 (12.30pm and 6pm), and a sparkling New Year's Concert with the Benidorm Musical Union orchestra and soprano Pepi Lloret. Christmas Eve afternoon party
For a proper festive knees-up, head to Christmas Square on December 24 where the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals hosts from 11am to 6pm. DJs Sergio Minidolls and Halenda spin tunes, joined by 'xitimita i el tabalet' winds at 1pm. The first 100 guests score gifts, and the bar keeps drinks flowing at great prices.
With an ice rink, Christmas market, rides and exhibitions thrown in, Benidorm's holidays promise non-stop joy. Bundle up and join the magic!
