ARCHIVED - April 20 to 30 Red Prawn Gastronomic Festival in Aguilas
10 Águilas restaurants offer menus including this prized local delicacy
One of the gastronomic highlights of the year in Águilas is the annual Red Prawn festival, during which these delicious local products caught by local fishermen are featured on special menus at various restaurants in the town.
The 2023 festival is being held from April 20 to April 30, somewhat earlier than in recent years, and ten restaurants are taking part, each of them offering menus with a choice of at least three starters, a main course, dessert, coffee and a drink. The red prawns of Águilas are highly prized and for this reason the menus are not exactly in the “cheap and cheerful” price range: on this occasion diners will be paying between 30 and 70 euros each, but the reward is an opportunity to taste one of the most renowned delicacies in the Costa Cálida.
Alongside the gastronomic temptations, the Hotel Puerto Juan Montiel is running a special offer for overnight stays, with discounts on room and spa treatment prices for those who are taking part in the red prawn festival.
The restaurants in Águilas taking part in this year’s festival are the following:
Restaurante La Veleta
Restaurante Gines
Restaurante la Chimenea
Restaurante Tiburón
Restaurante Arrecife
Restaurante Casa Bartolo
Restaurante Mar Uska
Gastro bar Saboreando el Cielo
Restaurante Zoco del Mar
Hotel Puerto Juan Montiel (Special overnight stay offers)
