ARCHIVED - Villas Caravaning appeals against the suspension of its operating licence for a second time
The campsite, which was closed down for incompliance with safety regulations, has not met the requirements of Cartagena City Hall

Cartagena City Council has decreed that the changes made by Villas Caravaning to improve its safety measures are not sufficient for the campsite to have its operating licence restored.
The City Council suspended the operating licence of the Villas Caravaning Campsite, located in La Manga, back in May due to the fact that Caravaning Costa Cálida, S.L., the management company, did not present the safety and emergency plans requested by the administration.
Faced with this decision, the company lodged an appeal, providing documentation with the actions that had been carried out to try to rectify the safety problems. However, the Town Hall has rejected the appeal because it considered that the measures taken at the campsite so far are insufficient.
Now, the management company has decided to appeal once again.
The company understands that with the set of actions that have been carried out since then and with the upcoming changes that are planned to be carried out, an improvement of the complex can be achieved that allows it to comply with the regulations and guarantee safety.
Caravaning Costa Cálida, S.L. “extends its hand” to the Town Hall to reach a consensus on the measures that are necessary to guarantee the safety of people in the campsite, and has asked the administration for “an urgent meeting to advance definitive solutions that give legal certainty to the company”.
This meeting will be held today, Thursday July 21, to “invest whatever is necessary to put an end to this situation”.
Among the measures taken to try to remedy the deficiencies in fire safety were the installation of 22 new fire hydrants, the construction of a new hydrant and the purchase of a small fire engine.
As for the actions they plan to undertake in the future, they are going to focus on improving safety in the electrical installation, through the construction of structures that only technicians will be able to access.
