ARCHIVED - University of Murcia to offer Covid PCR tests

Tests can be booked for international travel and other purposes

It has been announced that the University of Murcia is to be added to the list of establishments carrying out PCR Covid-19 diagnostic testing, following the issuing of authorization by the Carlos III Public Health Institute in Madrid after an evaluation of the capabilities of the university’s laboratories.

PCR tests are to be offered by the Scientific and Technical Research (ACTI) department not only to students and teaching staff at the university but also to institutions, businesses and members of the general public, especially targeting those who wish to undergo a test as a preventative measure or who need to present a negative test result in order to travel. The university is not authorized to test those known to be close contacts of others who have tested positive, according to the criteria set by the SMS regional health service.

Testing costs between 35 euros for students at the university and 60 euros for other individuals and businesses, and prior appointments should be made by email at acti@um.es or by telephone on 868 887303 or 868 887305.

Fees are to be waived for university students and staff engaged in international programs who require testing prior to travel.

On completion of the testing the ACTI will provide a full report of the results in both Spanish and English, making the documents apt for travel purposes, and it is specified that testing times will be flexible in order to make the results valid for international travel.
