This is the new price of motorway tolls across Spain following a 4 per cent price increase
Motorway tolls in Spain will be more expensive in 2023, with some roads charging more than 35 euros

Drivers in Spain are already feeling the pinch since the government abolished the 20 cent per litre fuel discount at filling stations but now they will have to contend with rising toll prices on the country’s motorways too.
The good news is that toll prices will only be increased by 4% in 2023 rather than the 8% or 9% requested by the companies that run these operations, with the Spanish government fronting the cash to make up the difference – around 23.3 million euros.
In all, 11 stretches of road will hike up their charges this year and while the price of the tolls hasn’t yet been updated on the Ministry of Transport, the companies running the booths have begun to release their rates. Here are the routes affected and the prices they will charge:
- AP-51: From Villalba to Ávila, light vehicles will pay 10.50 euros (about 45 cents more than last year).
- AP-6: From Villalba to Adanero, the journey will cost 13.90 euros, 55 cents more than last year.
- AP-61: From San Rafel to Segovia, 2.70 euros (about 10 cents more).
- AP-53: From Santiago to Alto de Santo Domingo, 6.40 (a rise of 25 cents, which will be reflected in other routes such as Ribadulla-Alto de Santo Domingo). Bandeira-Alto Santo Domingo will be 15 cents more expensive.
- AP-66: From Campomanes to León the journey will cost 14.30 euros, 55 cents more.
- AP-7: Alicante-Cartagena. It will cost 4.35 euros during June, July, August and September and drop to 2.45 euros for the rest of the year.
- AP-7: Malaga-Guadiaro. The new charge will be 10.60 euros.
- AP-68: The Bilbao to Zaragoza stretch of motorway is one of the most expensive in Spain. This year it will cost 35.60 euros, 1.85 euros more than last year.
- AP-71: The complete route from León to Astorga will cost 5.50 euros, 25 cents more.
- AP-9: The journey between Vigo and A Coruña will cost 18.15 euros and to Santiago, 10.7 euros.
- AP-46: The toll will cost 3.70 euros in low season and 5.60 euros in high season (15 and 20 cents more, respectively).
Motorways that will freeze their prices during 2023
On the plus side, several of the busiest motorways have decided to freeze their prices this year so there will be no toll increases.
These include: the Alicante ring road, the section from Cartagena to Vera, the R-3, R-5, M-12, R-2, R-4, AP-36 and AP-41.
It’s also possible for motorists to receive discounts on tolls and many of the companies offer different concessions for drivers who make a certain number of monthly trips on the motorway, those who make a round trip in 24 hours and even cheaper prices depending on the time of day.
