Supermarkets and shops that will open in Spain this Saturday November 1
‘All Saints Day’ is a bank holiday throughout Spain on November 1, so many stores will remain closed

November 1, the day after Halloween, is a national holiday in Spain every year. Every region and town in Spain has a local holiday on the day of their patron saint, while November 1 is the day of all the saints, el Día de Todos los Santos, so it's a bank holiday for the whole country.
Public holidays in Spain are commonly referred to as 'red days' and this one falls squarely in that category.
This year presents a slight inconvenience for weekend shoppers. November 1 lands on a Saturday and no autonomous community has opted to shift the holiday to Monday. That matters for anyone who relies on Saturdays to get their shopping done, as a number of businesses will keep their doors firmly shut throughout the festive day.
The good news is that plenty of supermarkets from different chains will open on All Saints' Day 2025, though many will operate reduced hours. Here's what you need to know:
Mercadona
Juan Roig's supermarket empire is famous for its rigid schedule policy. Normally, stores open continuously from 9am to 9.30pm Monday to Saturday, closing completely on Sundays and holidays.
However, the Valencian company has announced that most of its stores will open this Saturday with special hours running from 9am to 3pm.
However, the decision to open on All Saints' Day won't apply everywhere. Mercadona establishments in Galicia, the Basque Country and Navarra will remain closed throughout the day, as will stores in some provinces like Huesca in Aragón.
To confirm whether your local Mercadona is opening on November 1, use the company's supermarket search engine to check opening days and hours for stores in your area.
Lidl
Lidl typically operates from 9am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and many stores will open this Saturday November 1. Some may operate reduced hours, though specific times vary by location.
Since each Lidl establishment sets its own schedule, your safest bet is to check the supermarket locator to see which stores are trading during the national holiday.
Carrefour
Carrefour and its various formats, including Carrefour Market, Carrefour Express and Carrefour Bio, maintain different opening hours depending on the specific business and city.
The majority of the French chain’s establishments that are authorised to open on Sundays and holidays will welcome customers this Saturday November 1. Double check your local store's hours using Carrefour's store search engine.
Alcampo
Many Alcampo centres will remain open on Saturday November 1 with their usual hours, while others will operate reduced schedules. Check the specific hours for your location using the Alcampo store search engine.
Aldi
Normal Aldi store hours run from 9am to 9pm, though times can vary slightly depending on the individual store. The company's policy also includes special Sunday and holiday hours at certain locations. Find out the hours of your local establishment through the Aldi store locator.
Dia
A good number of Dia supermarkets authorised to open on Sundays and holidays on a regular basis will also raise their shutters on November 1, All Saints' Day. Some will operate reduced hours though, so it's worth checking the opening times in the Dia store finder before heading out.
Supercor and Hipercor
Both Supercor stores and Hipercor stores will maintain their usual Sunday and holiday hours for this Saturday November 1. To find out about your nearest Supercor or Hipercor store, access their respective search engines.
The bottom line is that while All Saints' Day is a proper bank holiday, you won't go hungry. Most major chains are opening their doors, even if it's just for a few hours. Just make sure you check your local store's specific times before making the trip.
