ARCHIVED - Six covid deniers arrested in Bilbao following violent protests

Many of those participating are known to police and protested without using masks

Six people were arrested in Bilbao on Thursday night after a protest was held against the restrictive measures decreed by the Basque Government to stop the coronavirus, including the curfew and the perimeter confinements between municipalities in the Basque Autonomous Community.

The 'deniers' staged riots and burned 25 rubbish containers.

According to the Ertzaintza, the protest -organized through social networks and without authorization- began in the Indautxu square at around 9:30 p.m. and anti-riot agents were forced to intervene due to the violent attitude of the protesters, who threw bottles, stones and firecrackers at the security forces.
With cries of 'freedom' and posters against 'repression', around 200 people without masks and not respecting social distancing gathered in the Indautxu plaza.

The clashes spread to Gran Vía and Ercilla and Henao streets, groups of hooded youths setting fire to the bins they encountered en-route

Deniers who reject the 'curfew' and other restrictive measures adopted to stop the spread of the coronavirus have once again called another protest on social networks for next Saturday in Bilbao.
Police sources have indicated that these are people related to the nightlife in the city(which has all been closed down) and people who are known to the police for their "violent" attitude. There is no political connection.
