This weekend, the colourful streets of La Vila Joiosa’s historic centre, known as Vila Vella, will be packed with an exciting mix of cultural activities for all ages. From Saturday 13 to Sunday 14 September, locals and visitors alike can enjoy a wide range of events including theatre, live music, children’s workshops, guided tours, ephemeral architectural installations, and much more.

 

Organised by La Vila Joiosa City Council and supported by a team of dedicated volunteers, this two-day festival aims to celebrate the town’s rich cultural identity and bring fresh life to the neighbourhood, recognised as a Site of Cultural Interest. After last year’s focus on maritime heritage, this edition highlights temporary architectural projects alongside artistic performances, exhibitions, and family-friendly activities.

 

Thrill-seekers can take to the skies with hot air balloon rides or feel the rush zip-lining across the Amadorio River. Meanwhile, the town’s colourful charm will be on full display with “Balconades” and a lively programme featuring a painting and photography competition, storytelling, dance, and a literary corner. Food trucks and a vermouth zone add to the festive atmosphere, ensuring something for everyone.

 

An information point will be set up in Plaza Castelar for easy access to details throughout the weekend. Whether you are a local resident or visiting from further afield, Vila Vella offers a wonderful chance to explore La Vila Joiosa’s historic heart through culture, adventure, and community spirit.
