Alicante foodies need look no further to tickle their taste buds than the 2023 Tapas and Pinchos Contest in Benidorm, one of the main events of the Gastronomic Benidorm 2023 festival running this month.

 

The competition will involve 16 local catering establishments battling it out to be voted the best tapa or pincho (small tasting plate) in Benidorm, an event that was launched this week by acting mayor Toni Perez.

 

This thirteenth edition of the contest will take place from June 16 to 25 and, as on previous occasions, it starts with the aim of promoting local gastronomy as one of the main attractions of Benidorm.

 

Competition will be fierce and to be crowned the winner, the chefs will need their dishes to reflect the art and innovation of the Alicante resort.

 

An expert jury will determine the first prize, and these lucky tasters have already had the chance to sample the delectable morsels on offer. Second place, however, will be chosen by the public. To vote, all you need to do is try ones of the tapas or pinchos at a participating restaurant, where a waiter will provide a QR code. Voters can then give the dish between one and five stars.

 

Everyone taking part will be entered into a draw with the chance to win a dinner for two, and votes can be cast between June 16 and 25.

 

The establishments taking part in this 13th edition are: El Bodegón, El Mesón, El Puerto, El Esturión, La Brasería Aurrerá, La Cava Aragonesa, La Tabernita del Sur, La Tapería Aurrerá, Linaje de Castilla, Los Peces, Malaspina, Maüi Beach Gastrolounge, Molta Pasta, Pintxos Aurrerá, Taberna Andaluza and Bar Zarzosa.
