June 16-18 Melon Festival in Torre Pacheco
More than just melons, the Torre Pacheco Melon Fest involves music, mirth and merriment galore
The annual Torre Pacheco melon fiestas are back, and this year will be held on the weekend of June 16-18.A celebration of all things melon-y, the Torre Pacheco Fiestas del Melón date back to 1969.
Over the course of the preceding week, melons will be on offer in local bars, restaurants and shops as Torre Pacheco proudly invites you to sample its staple crop and the pride of the town.
They have also organised a Melon Photography Competition, with the deadline for submitting your photographs of melons on June 11 at midnight. The prize for the winning photograph is 500 euros, and the jury’s decision will be announced on Friday June 16, coinciding with the start of the Melon Festival.
At the weekend, there will be live music, dancing and other events taking place in the Plaza Alcalde Pedro Jiménez in central Torre Pacheco.
Friday June 16
- Stalls selling a variety of tapas open in the afternoon
- Live music from Rock on Band Symphony, with the musical accompaniment of the UMTP
Saturday June 17
- Live music from Shaila Dúrcal and A Retales
Sunday June 18
- Children’s Folklore Show Villa de Torre Pacheco, with the participation of the Peña Huertana el Celemín and the Grupo de Coros y Danzas Virgen dl Rosario
- Gala of the Ultimate Dance School under the direction of Paco Pulido
