Weather in Murcia, Tuesday August 30

The weather forecast for this week in Murcia is for a decidedly mixed bag, with fog, rain and thunderstorms sharing space on the meteorological map with glorious sunshine and warnings of extreme temperatures of up to 40ºC. The only thing we’re missing is snow.

The week starts on Monday August 29 with a cloudy day interspersed with moments of sunshine if we’re lucky, and with rainfall, thunder and lightning just across the regional border in Castilla-La Mancha.

Tuesday 30 will be marked by fog in the morning in parts of central and western Murcia, especially in Totana, Bullas and Caravaca de la Cruz. This will transforms into thunderstorms in Caravaca, and rainfall in Lorca and Cieza and much of central Murcia, while the Cartagena coastline remains clear and sunny.

In fact, the Aemet weather agency has issued a yellow alert for hot temperatures of up to 40ºC in Murcia city for Tuesday.

Wednesday 31 will bring more rain across inland Murcia, even as temperatures remain high, reaching maximums of 38ºC.

From Thursday September 1 and going into the weekend, it should be a clear, sunny few days for everyone. But with such unstable, unpredictable weather patterns, it remains to be seen if there will be another spike in temperatures or more thunderstorms.

Lightning strikes have already caused fateful fires in Yecla and Jumilla recently, prompting the Spanish government to declare Murcia a ‘catastrophe zone’.
