Contactless card and mobile payments now available on Lorca buses
The new payment programme on public bus transport in Lorca is based on the London system

Thanks to a new public transport scheme by Lorca City Council, it is now possible to pay for bus journeys in the municipality by card, mobile phone or smart watch using contactless technology.
Launched via the municipal transport company Limusa, passengers may now purchase tickets on the city’s urban public transport bus network with no minimum amount.
This system is based on NFC technology, which guarantees fast transactions and no connectivity problems, improving efficiency, comfort and, in general, the user experience.
Such technology for paying on buses in Spain is by no means common, and normally limited to cities which are the capitals of their provinces, such as Murcia city and Madrid.
The EMV-Transit system used on the Lorca buses, which has been specifically developed for the passenger transport sector, is derived from those already in use on London metropolitan transport.
Local Lorca Councillor for Limusa, Juan Miguel Bayonas, said, “The latest improvements in public transport promoted by Lorca City Council through Limusa have led to a considerable increase in the number of travellers. In this sense, 65,288 passengers have used the bus in October, which is 21,000 more than the same month last year and a record number of figures for this service.”
It should be remembered that Lorca has eight established routes that link the city centre with the Parque Almenara Shopping Centre, the Rafael Méndez hospital, the Saprelorca industrial estate, Campillo and Torre del Obispo, Río, Santa Quiteria, Cazalla, Tercia and Marchena, while Purias will join this list starting in December.
