A 41-year-old British man who was arrested in Marbella last July under an international warrant for drug trafficking has been extradited back to the UK. The National Crime Agency (NCA) confirmed the extradition of Andrew Doran, who was wanted for his alleged role in a network importing cocaine into the country.

 

Earlier this year, the NCA appealed for information on his whereabouts, which proved vital after investigators traced activity linked to a bank account accessed from southern Spain.

 

Police confirmed that Doran was detained in July in Marbella’s Nueva Andalucía area and handed over to Spain’s National Police.

 

Once his extradition was approved, Doran was returned to the UK on October 1. Two days later, he appeared before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court charged with four drug offences and one count of conspiracy to kidnap. He has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance later this month.

 

According to the NCA, Doran is suspected of being part of a network supplying large quantities of cocaine to the north east of England. His arrest has prompted a wider search for two other men connected to separate but related investigations: Thomas Michael Dunwoodie, 56, and Paul Anthony Elsey, 57.

 

Both men were arrested in 2020 but fled the UK in 2022 before facing drug charges and are still wanted on outstanding warrants.
