The body of a man thought to be a 65-year-old British national who went missing on August 15 has been found in Estepona. The grim discovery took place on the morning of Saturday September 20, in the Paraíso neighbourhood, close to where the man was last seen, according to the Policía Nacional.

 

The extensive search operation involved the Policía Nacional, Protección Civil, Estepona policía local and firefighters. Despite earlier drone searches, the dense undergrowth and wooded nature of the area made locating the body difficult. The team’s persistence ultimately led to the discovery, bringing an end to weeks of searching.

 

While the deceased is believed to be the missing British man, official confirmation is still awaited. The identity and cause of death will be determined following a forensic autopsy. Authorities have been investigating the man’s movements thoroughly since his disappearance, trying to piece together the steps he took after leaving his residence.

 

Sources say the man had been preparing to return to the UK before he vanished. He reportedly left with only his mobile phone and wallet in his black Volkswagen Golf. Those who knew him describe him as well-liked and say his disappearance was out of character.

 

As the investigation continues the search teams involved have been praised for their dedication and the cooperation between multiple local agencies.
