ARCHIVED - August 1-Sept 5 train times changed from Madrid and Barcelona to Seville, Malaga and Cadiz
Repair works to the railway infrastructure will mean a number of Andalusia train services will be rescheduled this summer

Railway infrastructure management company Adif is carrying out renovation works on the high-speed track linking Madrid and Andalusia in the coming weeks, meaning many high-speed AVE trains and long-distance services in Andalusia between August 1 and September 5 will have to be rescheduled.
The announcement comes shortly after the government committed to more works to reduce journey time between Almeria, Seville and Granada.
According to a press release issued by the Renfe train operator, the works carried out by Adif will take place between August 1 and September 19 at different points of the Yeles (Toledo)-Guadalmez (Ciudad Real) rail section.
As a result of these works, trains will be forced to run on a single track with speed restrictions.
For this reason, Renfe will reschedule its trains between August 1 and September 5, with the departure and arrival times being changed by “a few minutes” and an increase in travel time of about ten minutes on average.
The lines affected are:
- Madrid-Córdoba-Sevilla AVE line
- Madrid-Córdoba-Málaga
- Madrid-Córdoba-Granada
- Barcelona-Córdoba/Sevilla
- Barcelona-Málaga
- Barcelona-Granada
- Alvia Madrid-Cádiz
- Alvia Madrid-Huelva
- Intercity Madrid-Algeciras
- Intercity Cádiz-Barcelona
The train authorities haven’t ruled out changes to other lines as well.
On the Alvia line between Cádiz and Madrid, departures from Cádiz will be at 6.45am, 12.15pm and 6.10pm, with arrivals at 11.28am, 4.36pm and 10.27pm, respectively.
Departures from Madrid will be at 7.05am, 1.05pm and 4.05pm, arriving in the city of Cádiz at 11.34am, 5.23pm and 8.24pm, respectively.
The Cádiz-Barcelona Intercity train will depart from the Cádiz station at 7.55am and arrive in the capital of Catalonia at 8.03pm. The reverse journey will depart from Barcelona at 9.05am, arriving in Cádiz at 9.30pm.
