ARCHIVED - Update on proposed resurfacing of Avenida de los Covachos in Camposol
More details emerge of the work planned for the dual carriageway running through Sectors C and D of Camposol
The proposed work which is part of a 25-item, 10-million-euro urban renewal and improvement plan approved by Mazarrón council some months ago became subject of a legal challenge by opposition PP and Ciudadanos parties, a specific challenge being lodged against a contract put out to tender for the drafting of 4 projects, the Camposol item being included in lot number 4.
The four projects are as follows:
Lot 1: Drafting of the adaptation project of the streets Mar Báltico, Mar Cantábrico, Mar de Mármara, Mar Adriático and Mar de Filipinas in urbanisation Bahía, Puerto de Mazarrón;
Lot 2: Drafting of the street adaptation project Río Mundo and Río Taibilla in urbanisation Bahía-Puerto de Mazarrón;
Lot 3: Drafting of the draft adaptation of Trafalgar and Depósito streets in the San Isidro neighbourhood of Puerto de Mazarron;
Lot 4: Drafting of the adaptation project for Avda. of the Covachos in Camposol.
The legal challenge involved the College of Technical Engineers of Public Works and was heard and adjudicated by the “Tribunal Administrativo Central de Recursos Contractuales” (Central Administrative Contracts Appeal Court) in Madrid on April 24, with allegations concerning the legal wording and technicalities. Although this has delayed the progress of the projects it was decided by Mazarron Council’s Governing Board that the tendering process should re-enter the procedure at a point near to where it was halted and not have to restart from square one, thus minimising any delay as much as possible.
