ARCHIVED - Mazarrón Council push on with urban renewals
The launch of “Mazarrón Urbano” includes asphalting part of Avenida de los Covachos in Sectors C & D of Camposol
"Mazarrón Urbano" is the name of the plan for the redevelopment and adaptation of roads, avenues, streets, squares and pavements in the municipality of Mazarrón. It has been developed by the Department of Town Planning and Infrastructure of Mazarrón Town Council and during the launch presentation both the Mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, and the Councillor for Town Planning and Infrastructure, Ginés Campillo, expressed the need to change the image of the municipality through the modernisation of numerous avenues, streets and squares at different points of Mazarron.
Work scheduled in the plan include projects in Puerto de Mazarrón involving Playasol I, Central and Bahia, plus Bolnuevo, Mazarrón itself, Camposol and a number of the outlying districts.
The planned project for Camposol is the asphalting of the dual carriageway extending along Avenida de los Covachos from a point adjacent to the bridge between sectors B & C to the end of the dual carriageway at the junction with Calle Babinas at the outer limit of Sector D. The contract for the drafting of the project was put out to tender with three others located around the Puerto de Mazarrón, these four contracts, although being delayed by the legal action mentioned below, are continuing in the tendering process.
Both Gaspar Miras and Ginés Campillo mentioned the existence of legal recourse taken by the political parties of the PP and Ciudadanos in which the 2 parties asked the court for the precautionary suspension of the previous credit modification that is making it possible to finance the drafting of the projects contemplated in Mazarrón Urbano, as well as other actions. So far, justice has agreed with the Council Executive in the plan being a legal and recurrent mechanism by the Town Councils to finance investments in their localities.
