Another week of intense heat and Saharan dust returns: Andalucía weather forecast July 27-30

While coastal areas should become a little more comfortable later in the week, inland Andalucía is facing another few days of intense heat, with temperatures climbing above 40°C once again

If you were hoping for some relief from the heat this week, much of Andalucía is likely to disappoint. While temperatures will ease slightly in a few coastal areas later in the week, inland parts of the region are expected to stay close to or above 40°C, with Saharan dust returning from Tuesday.

Strong Levante winds will also continue to affect the Strait of Gibraltar, where very strong gusts are expected at times. Here's a day-by-day look at what you can expect across Andalucía.

Monday July 27

The week begins with plenty of sunshine, although some cloud is possible along parts of the Mediterranean coast early in the morning. It will be another very hot day inland, with highs reaching 39°C in both Córdoba and Seville, 37°C in Jaén, 36°C in Granada and Huelva and 33°C in Cádiz. Coastal areas will be a little cooler, with 31°C expected in Almería and 30°C in Málaga.

 Strong Levante winds will continue through the Strait of Gibraltar, with very strong gusts at times.

Tuesday July 28

The heat will intensify on Tuesday, with 41°C forecast in Córdoba and Seville, 40°C in Jaén and 39°C in Granada. Huelva is expected to reach 36°C, while Cádiz stays around 33°C. Along the Mediterranean coast, Málaga should see 32°C, while Almería climbs sharply to 37°C. Skies will remain largely clear, but some Saharan dust is expected to move into the region. 

Strong Levante winds will continue around the Strait, while Almería's coastline can also expect fresh to strong easterly winds.

Wednesday July 29

Wednesday brings a split in the weather across Andalucía. While parts of the Atlantic coast cool down noticeably, the intense heat will continue inland. Córdoba is forecast to reach 42°C, with 41°C in Granada, 39°C in Jaén and 38°C in Seville. Meanwhile, Cádiz drops to 27°C and Huelva to 29°C, with Málaga and Almería both expected to reach around 32°C. Some cloud is possible along the coast, while Saharan dust is expected to linger in the air.

Thursday July 30

The contrast between the coast and inland areas continues into Thursday. Córdoba is once again expected to reach 42°C, with 41°C in Granada, 39°C in both Seville and Jaén, while coastal areas remain much cooler. Highs of 33°C are forecast in Huelva, 31°C in Málaga, 30°C in Almería and 28°C in Cádiz. Skies will stay mostly clear, with some Saharan dust still possible and moderate Levante winds continuing around the Strait.

Although parts of the coast will get a little relief from the heat later in the week, much of inland Andalucía will continue to see temperatures well above 40°C. If you're spending time outdoors, try to make the most of the cooler mornings where you can, keep a bottle of water close by, wear sunscreen and, if possible, avoid being out during the hottest part of the afternoon. Even if it doesn't feel quite as humid as it has in recent days, the summer sun is still incredibly strong.
