Andalucia towns forced to reschedule Three Kings parades due to the weather
A number of parades in southern Spain are adapting their schedule in order miss the bad weather
Antequera City Council has announced that the Three Wise Men will bring forward their visit to the city in view of the forecast of rain for the weekend. The same is true of Torremolinos who will hold their parade on December 4, instead of the usual December 5. Malaga is yet to make a change to the official time of their parade but they have warned people of the possibility of a rainstorm during the event.
In Antequera the Three Kings will now officially be welcomed at the Town Hall on the morning of January 4, starting at 11.30am. The parade itself, which begins at 6pm, will also take place on the Saturday instead of the Sunday.
Moreover, the Three Kings will now visit patients admitted to the Antequera Hospital on Sunday January 5 at 9am, as well as nursing homes and the ADIPA headquarters from 11am. Furthermore, the visit of the Royal Herald, who collected the letters prior to the arrival of the King and Queen, has also been cancelled.
In Torremolinos the gathering of floats and participants will take place at 4pm in the Plaza Blas Infante. The official procession will then set off at 5pm. This year in Torremolinos the parade will consist of a total of 13 floats, 10 themed and 3 of the Kings Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar, and will include the participation of 25 groups from the municipality.
The City Council in Malaga has assured that it will communicate its decision "in the next few days", as to what it will do in light of the news of bad weather. As of yet, the city has not changed the original times of the Parade.
The forecasts for rain and especially wind in the western part of Andalusia for the 5th and 6th of January have caused the capitals of Cádiz and Huelva to also agree to bring forward their parade to the 4th. For its part, Seville has maintained it on the 5th and Córdoba will decide on this Friday.
