Águilas has prepared a trailer loaded with humanitarian aid for the people affected by the DANA
A large trailer loaded with humanitarian aid destined to provide assistance to those affected by the DANA left the Adolfo Suárez fairgrounds in the town of Águilas.
The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, gave her thanks to the transportation company Culmarex for the support they have shown by providing not only the trailer but also donations on its part for the people of Valencia affected by the tragedy.
The mayor also wished to express her heartfelt gratitude for all the donations that companies, associations and anonymous citizens have been sending donations since last Monday.
The trailer that has undertaken the journey joins the numerous trucks that have also been able to load material in the fairgrounds during the previous days en route to Valencia.
Águilas’s Councillor for Civil Protection, José Luis Moreno, who is responsible for the coordination of this solidarity initiative, has highlighted that “in the next few days three Civil Protection vehicles will also leave Águilas loaded with material that the volunteers themselves will distribute among the residents of Algemesí.”
Councillor Moreno continued by stating, “This aid will go directly to the heart of a working-class neighbourhood that has been strongly affected by this terrible DANA.”
Furthermore, the councillor has asked that there be a temporary slowing down in the donations by the people of Águilas, who have been so incredibly generous with their money and time, until the distribution centres which have been set up in different parts of Valencia can adequately distribute all the material received to date.
