ARCHIVED - Warm and overcast with a chance of strong storms: Spain weather forecast October 3-6
A mixed week ahead in most of Spain with heavy rain expected in the south on Thursday

Autumn has settled into Spain with a very notable change in the weather for the first week of October. While the days will be dry and warm for the most part in the coming days, the skies will be largely overcast and several areas are still being hit with isolated storms. Meteorologists have predicted that this October will see less rain and higher temperatures than normal, but it’s time to unpack the winter woolies as the nights are set to become a little more chilly.
Monday October 3
A cloudy start to the day throughout mainland Spain and on the islands with some morning fog banks in Galicia and Asturias. Granada and Jean in Andalucia and Albacete in Castilla-La Mancha are under a yellow level weather warning for storms earlier on, which will likely spread into the Region of Murcia from lunch time.
The mercury is on the rise in the northwest and the extreme southeast, topping 30ºC in Malaga, with little change to the rest of the country. Nighttime temperatures will vary widely across Spain but will average out in the mid-teens.
Tuesday October 4
Very little change is expected on Tuesday, although there are no weather warnings in place at the moment. The day will be mostly overcast with the likelihood of showers and the occasional storm in the south of the Balearic Islands and in the southeast of Spain. A storm has also been forecast in Tenerife.
Morning fog will hit the Andalucian Mediterranean coast, moving through Galicia and Cantabria, while some light haze is expected in the Canary islands and the southern half of the country.
The temperatures will remain generally steady.
Wednesday October 5
No weather alerts have been issued for Wednesday, although Aemet has warned that some locally strong rain and storms could hit the extreme southeast of the country. Along the rest of the Mediterranean coast, the day will be mostly cloudy with some clear, bright spells.
Daytime temperatures will drop in the south and in the Canary Islands with few changes elsewhere and a breeze coming from the northeast could lend a further nip to the air.
Thursday October 6
There will be a distinct change on Thursday when an isolated high-level depression (DANA) located in the southeast will bring abundant clouds, rain and storms to the Valencian Community, Murcia and the Balearic Islands. The rest of the country won’t escape entirely, and the day is set to be largely overcast with the chance of showers in the east and central Spain.
Aemet has also predicted an episode of calimas, or muddy rain showers, in southern Spain and the Balearic Islands. An easterly wind will affect most of the country, tending to be stronger on the coast.
The temperatures will remain relatively high, staying in the mid-20s in Alicante and Murcia, creating a rather muggy day and night.
