ARCHIVED - Vaccinated Spanish travellers to the Canary Islands will no longer be PCR tested
The Canaries will allow vaccinated Spanish passengers onto the islands without PCR tests.

As Spain begins to welcome international tourists again, the government in the Canary Islands has shown it is eager to attract visitors from the mainland by announcing that vaccinated Spanish travellers will not need PCR tests from next week.
The Canarian government has said that tourists from Spain who have been fully vaccinated, received at least one dose more than 15 days in advance, or have already had the virus will not have to show negative tests to enter the islands.
Since April 10, travellers who have come into the Canaries from Spain by air or sea have had to take PCR tests before entering, however the progress of the vaccination programme across the islands has meant that tests will no longer be required by those groups.
Spanish nationals will be asked to show either a certificate showing that they have been fully vaccinated or received at least one dose more than 15 days prior to travel, or a certificate showing that they have had the virus in the last six months.
The Canarian government has now said it is waiting to see what travel restrictions the Spanish central government brings in this summer before rolling out any further measures to international travellers.
As of Thursday evening, the accumulated incidence rate in the Canary Islands was 77 cases per 100,000 of population, one of the lowest rates in Spain, where the national average now stands at 125 per 100,000.
Spanish travellers who have been vaccinated, have had the virus, or have had a PCR test will be able to travel within the EU from July without having to quarantine after the government said it will introduce its Covid certificate in time for the summer.
