Travesía Fotográfica, San Pedro del Pinatar
Annual photography competition in the Salinas Natural Park
Images: Winners of the 2011 Photographic competition.
San Pedro del Pinatar council run an annual event between June and December called the Travesía Fotográfica.
The aim of this is to encourage visitors or residents of the area to really look closely at the unique eco-system in the area surrounding San Pedro del Pinatar and appreciate the beauty of the Parque Regional Las Salinas.
Throughout the year on a Saturday, participants in the Travesia Fotografica are invited to form into groups of between 2 and 6 people and follow a 12.37km route which takes the group through the diverse eco-systems of the park, observing the different conditions which exist within the park, and photographing what they see en route.
The route can be undertaken by foot or on bicycle.
Before beginning the route, participants pick up a route map and are signed in at the beginning of the route, which leaves at 9.30am from the parking point of the park, next to the Charca de Coterillo, then have until 8pm to complete it, getting the passport signed off at 5 different check in points along the way to prove they were actually there.
Each group is only allowed to participate once, and a maximum of 24 people per Saturday may take part, so if you want to participate, its important to book up in advance to secure a place.
After the visit , photographs are submitted on-line before the end of December, then in January visitors to the site can vote on their favourites.
So if youre a photographer, why not give it a try, its a challenging and exciting landscape to photograph, and who knows, you may have a fantastic day out , which leads to many more days of pleasure in the future photographing and enjoying this unique environment.
