Spain weather forecast August 19-22
A changeable week ahead with storms in northern Spain and high temperatures in the south

Weather warnings on Monday August 19
The DANA that brought torrential rain and violent storms to the Balearic Islands and parts of mainland Spain is moving away towards Italy this week. A few new weather fronts will replace it, but none should be too strong or long-lasting.
As a result, the weather for the coming days will be quite changeable, with a good chance of showers in the north and climbing temperatures in the south.
Monday August 19

Some showers are expected in the Mediterranean region, particularly between Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, but it should remain dry elsewhere.
Daytime temperatures will drop in the Gulf of Cadiz but the mercury will rise in the rest of the country, exceeding 38°C in the valleys of the south.
An orange alert for heat has been activated in Andalucía between the hours of 1pm and 9pm, while yellow temperature warnings are in place in Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura and Madrid.
Tuesday August 20

A weak Atlantic front will result in overcast skies and occasional heavy rain in the Canary Islands, Galicia and Cantabria on Tuesday. Likewise, a cloudy start in the Mediterranean could lead to some afternoon showers.
Temperatures will remain similar to Monday, exceeding 36°C in large areas of the southern Atlantic slope and locally in the south of Gran Canaria, and even 38°C in areas of the valleys of the Tajo, Guadiana and Guadalquivir rivers.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated yellow heat alerts in Andalucía, Castilla y Leon, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura and Madrid.
Wednesday August 21

Only Extremadura and Galicia remain on alert for high temperatures on Wednesday but even so, the mercury is expected to hover around the 36°C-mark all along the Atlantic coast.
Most of the country can look forward to partly cloudy or clear skies and a fairly stable day, although there is a chance of late afternoon showers in inland Andalucía and the southeast in general.
Thursday August 22

Thursday should be another bright and sunny day. Cloud cover will develop in central Spain towards the afternoon, with the possibility of showers and weak storms in mountainous areas.
Daytime temperatures will tend to rise in the north and east of the country, easily exceeding 35°C once again along the southern Atlantic coast.
