Torrid nights and scorching days: Murcia weather forecast Aug 8-11
The fourth heatwave of the summer season will hit Spain this weekend
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has announced the fourth summer heatwave for this coming weekend and while it will be scorching as usual in the Region of Murcia, temperatures will only rise by a couple of degrees at most compared to previous days. In fact, the mercury could even dip in places thanks to the easterly winds expected along the Mediterranean coast.
However, the evenings are really starting to heat up, and parts of Cartagena and Águilas can expect stifling, torrid nights where the thermometers hover around 27ºC.
Thursday August 8
Thursday will be lovely and sunny aside from a little early morning cloudiness and for the moment, the temperatures remain largely unchanged, swinging between a maximum of 34ºC in Cartagena and 37ºC in Lorca.
Light easterly winds will grow stronger from midday onwards.
Friday August 9
It should be mostly bright on Friday with some intervals of high clouds. Temperatures will stay the same inland but coastal towns can expect a drop of a degree or two at the height of the day.
In contrast, the mercury will ramp up on Friday night, failing to dip below 26ºC in Cartagena.
Those light winds will again bring some breezy relief in the afternoon.
Saturday August 10
The heatwave will peak in most of Spain on Saturday but in the Region of Murcia, the weather will continue on as usual with very few changes. The day-time temperatures will creep up again in most areas, ranging from 34ºC to 37ºC, with plenty of pleasant coastal breezes.
Sunday August 11
The skies will be mostly clear or a little cloudy on Sunday, although the cloud cover will build a bit towards the evening. The mercury will climb to 38ºC in Lorca, with few changes expected elsewhere.
Minimum and maximum temperatures in the Region of Murcia this weekend
- Thursday August 8: Min 18ºC; Max 37ºC
- Friday August 9: Min 18ºC; Max 37ºC
- Saturday August 10: Min 19ºC; Max 37ºC
- Sunday August 11: Min 18ºC; Max 38ºC
