Torrevieja chosen to host the House of Ukraine in Spain
The Costa Blanca is already home to one of four Reception, Assistance and Referral Centres for Displaced Ukrainians (Creade)

The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced on Monday February 24 in Kyiv that Spain will establish the ‘House of Ukraine’ in Torrevieja, a centre dedicated to addressing the different needs of the displaced Ukrainian community in this country.
The president made this announcement at the international summit in support of Ukraine, which commemorates the third anniversary since the beginning of the Russian aggression. President Sánchez attended in person with the aim of reaffirming Spain's support for Ukraine.
As it turns out, Torrevieja already has a facility dedicated to assisting Ukrainians, which was opened right at the beginning of the Russian invasion. Located on the large second floor of the Social Security building, the centre is a place where evacuated citizens can receive all sorts of administrative advice.
This Reception, Assistance and Referral Centre for Displaced Ukrainians (Creade) is one of the four set up in Spain by the government, along with those opened in Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga.
The choice of Torrevieja for the new facility is not a coincidence. Even before the war started, the Ukrainian community was one of the largest international groups in the city. Among the 120 nationalities represented in the Costa Blanca city, 9,500 hail from Ukraine. They are followed by Russians and the British.
At the summit in Kyiv, President Sánchez explained that since the beginning of the war, Spain has provided “unprecedented” assistance to Ukraine, with more than 100 million euros in humanitarian aid sent between February 2022 and the end of 2024, and an additional 10 million euros will soon be made available.
On top of this is more than 400 million euros in financial aid for reconstruction, as well as the delivery of military equipment and the training of nearly 7,000 Ukrainian soldiers.
