Most stores in the Region of Murcia will have revised opening hours on the first holiday of the new year

After partying the last weekend of 2022 away most homes will be in need of some stocking up during the first week of January. This year, since January 1 falls on a Sunday, the holiday has been pushed forward to Monday January 2, so most of the supermarkets and shops in the Murcia Region will alter their opening hours somewhat.

Here are the schedules of the supermarkets and shopping centres on Monday.

Supermarkets

As usual during holidays, Mercadona won’t open at all on Monday January 2.
Carrefour, Lidl, Aldi and Consum will all be open for business.
DIA has altered its business hours on Monday to the shorter time of 10am to 2.30pm.

Shopping centres and larger stores

It’s business as usual in the Nueva Condomina, Thader, Atalayas and La Noria shopping centres in Murcia on Monday.
Parque Almenara in Lorca will be open to the public, as will the Espacio Mediterráneo in Cartagena, the Dos Mares in San Javier, the Vega Plaza in Molina and Águilas Plaza, which run 265 days a year.
El Corte Inglés will serve customers on Monday from 10am to 10pm, while other big retailers like Ikea and Media Markt will also be open for business.

As always, supermarket opening hours can vary from town to town, so it’s best to check the company website if in doubt.
