ARCHIVED - The Costa del Sol will have flight connections to 119 destinations this winter 2022-23
The UK has the most connections by air from Malaga airport this autumn and winter of any destination
This autumn and winter season 2022/23, Malaga and the Costa del Sol will have flight connections with 119 destinations via 192 air routes. From October 30, 2022, to March 25, 2023, the airlines will offer 7.4 million seats on 43,834 flights.
This number of seats is 16.8% more than in the 2019-20 season and the number of flights 13.6% more, though that doesn’t take into account the adjustment for the impact that Covid-19 had from the last two weeks of March 2020.
Of the total number of routes connecting Malaga airport with other destinations, 148 are links with European airports. The countries in the European Union that have the most connections by air with the Costa del Sol are the Netherlands, Italy, France, Denmark and Ireland.
However, the United Kingdom remains the market with the largest number of seats available at Malaga airport, with 39 routes between the Costa del Sol and UK airports this winter, making up a total of almost 1,600,000 seats on around 8,500 flights.
The majority of those flight go to and from London airports, with more than 740,000 seats (+6%) on almost 4,000 flights (+1%).
As for internal flights connecting Malaga with other destinations in Spain, the airlines have scheduled more than 1,600,000 seats (34% more than in the winter period of 2019/20), on thirty routes, three more than before the Covid pandemic struck.
