ARCHIVED - The cheapest and most expensive cars to insure in Spain
Motor insurance premiums have increased by 18% in Spain this year

Inflation and the rising cost of living have affected virtually every industry in Spain, and unfortunately, car insurance is no exception. This expense has always been relative cheap in Spain compared to many other countries in Europe but in the last year, this necessary evil has increased by 18%, according to data from Rastreator.
The price hike has been applied to all policies across the board, including fully comprehensive and third party, with the average car insurance bill now coming to 767 euros per year.
The head of Rastreator Insurance, Víctor López, confirmed that the cost of living has increased "generally in all areas" and that, undeniably, this also affects car insurance. However, "it is one of the products where there has been less variation in prices, since the final cost depends above all on the profile of the driver and the vehicle."
Generally speaking, younger drivers and those with a sketchy driving history will pay a premium in Spain for car insurance.
It’s not all bad news though and some smart shopping could save you a fortune, since insurance costs vary wildly across the different makes and models.
The cheapest cars to insure in Spain
In terms of value for money, the Dacia Spring came out on top, costing just 343 euros on average to insure each year. It’s followed by the Dacia Jogger (354 euros), and the Russian-built Lada Niva (361). Coming in fourth place is the quirky Suzuki Jimny (372 euros) and the MG ZS is fifth, at 376 euros.
The most expensive cars to insure in Spain
On the opposite end of the scale, the vehicle that will break the bank the most is the Mazda RX-8, coming in at a whopping 1,367 euros. Next up is the Porsche 911, which will cost you 1,236 euros to insure, followed by the Audi A7 Sportback, at 1,216 euros.
Taking fourth place for the most expensive car to insure in Spain is the Nissan 350 Z (1,214 euros) followed by the Porche Panamera (1,203).
