Tail-end of Hurricane Erin hits Spain: Weather forecast August 25-28
A cold front will sweep across Spain mid-week, resulting in more storms and falling temperatures

Weather outlook on Wednesday afternoon
As we enter the last week in August, high pressure will continue to dominate during the first couple of days, with calm, settled weather on the cards. However, more rain and stormy intervals will arrive between Wednesday and Thursday thanks to the tail-end of powerful Hurricane Erin, which blasted through the Atlantic a few days ago.
At the start of the week, some eastern parts of the country may see storms and scattered showers, though these will gradually fade overnight on Monday August 25. From Catalonia to eastern Andalucía, strong downpours could occur, with storms forming in the early hours of Monday and later in the afternoon across the northeast.

Weather outlook at 3pm on Monday August 25
Yellow weather alerts for heavy rain have also been issued from midday onwards in the Valencian Community, Aragon and Catalonia.
Temperatures will rise slightly during the first part of the week, with some southern areas climbing above 35ºC. Minimum temperatures will also remain high on Monday night, staying at tropical and even equatorial levels in several central and Mediterranean capitals, as well as in the Canary Islands, where overnight values will not dip below 20ºC.

Weather outlook at 3pm on Tuesday August 26
On Tuesday August 26, the worst of the storms should be confined to northern Spain, although some scattered showers and heavy intervals haven’t been ruled out along the eastern Mediterranean.
By Wednesday August 27, a low-pressure system and cooler air moving in will destabilise conditions across the north. That mix of cooler air above and residual heat and humidity at the surface will fuel significant storms from the eastern Cantabrian coast through the upper Ebro valley, Navarre, Aragon, Catalonia and in isolated areas of the northern Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands.

Average temperatures forecast on Wednesday August 27
A front from the northwest will usher in cooler air mid-week, lowering daytime highs by 6-7°C in many areas, including southern regions. Still, intense heat will persist in some Mediterranean zones; Murcia, for instance, could see temperatures climb to 37°C by Thursday August 28.

Weather outlook on Thursday August 28
