Temperatures will dip in the Murcia Region over the weekend but remain in the high 20s

Easter officially begins in Spain with the first public holiday on April 6 but since all children in the Region of Murcia are off school from the 3rd, many people will begin the celebrations this coming weekend. And the forecast couldn’t be better, with plenty of sunshine and heat forecast, although the mercury will drop by a few degrees on Sunday.

Even as an Atlantic storm batters northern Spain with rain and high winds on Thursday March 31, the temperatures will begin to creep up in the Region of Murcia, reaching scorching highs of 31 and 32ºC inland. While the westerly breeze won’t be as strong as elsewhere it will begin to pick up during the afternoon.

Minimum and maximum temperatures on Thursday

Caravaca de la Cruz: minimum 9ºC; maximum 31ºC

Cartagena: 12ºC; 22ºC

Lorca: 9ºC; 31ºC

Murcia: 11ºC; 32ºC

Yecla: 7ºC; 30ºC

Friday March 31 will be mostly clear with occasional high clouds and in general, the temperatures will continue to climb, with the exception of the inland mountain regions, which will experience a very slight decline at the height of the day. The westerly winds will persist, more intense along the coast.

Caravaca de la Cruz: minimum 12ºC; maximum 28ºC

Cartagena: 15ºC; 27ºC

Lorca: 16ºC; 32ºC

Murcia: 18ºC; 34ºC

Yecla: 13ºC; 28ºC

It may be a bit more cloudy in parts on Saturday April 1, tending to become more overcast in the late afternoon. The mercury will take a notable nosedive, thanks in part to a northwesterly breeze. However, the thermometers should remain in the mid to high-20s in most places.

Caravaca de la Cruz: minimum 13ºC; maximum 25ºC

Cartagena: 16ºC; 25ºC

Lorca: 16ºC; 28ºC

Murcia: 19ºC; 30ºC

Yecla: 12ºC; 23ºC

As we move into Sunday April 2, the thermometers will continue to drop and there will be a notable change in both day and night-time temperatures. The day will be slightly cloudy throughout with light northwesterly winds.

Caravaca de la Cruz: minimum 8ºC; maximum 21ºC

Cartagena: 12ºC; 22ºC

Lorca: 10ºC; 24ºC

Murcia: 10ºC; 25ºC

Yecla: 5ºC; 20ºC
