Free parking at Lorca street market this week
Lorca City Council has made two free car parks available for the weekly market this Thursday October 12
This Thursday October 12, Lorca will hold its usual Thursday weekly street market, even though it is a national holiday in Spain for the Spanish Day. Even better, car parking for people going to the market this week will be free.
The market will be in its usual location in the Huerto de la Rueda, and this year it coincides with the celebration of the Fericab horse fair, which runs from October 10 to 15.
For this reason, the car park located in front of the Huerto de la Rueda (behind the former Limusa car park) and the space known as the ‘Solar del Quiñonero’, which is right next to it, will both be made available for use by motorists, absolutely free of charge.
This was announced by Lorca’s Councillor for Plazas and Markets, Mayte Martínez, who explained the decision had been reached thanks to a joint effort between Lorca City Council, the organisers of the Horse Fair and the Association of Street Vendors of the Guadalentín region, so that Fericab would not affect the holding of the weekly street market.

Martínez stressed that “the aim of this agreement is not to harm vendors or users, and that there will be free parking options nearby”.She also pointed out, “There will be a police reinforcement to help users to go to the designated areas.”
The Huerto de la Rueda recently underwent important improvement work, including the complete refurbishment of the toilets and a full asphalting job to repair the paving, making the area more suited for holding a market each week.
