Carnival Queens named as Santiago de la Ribera Carnival Week begins!

Verónica Soler is the official Queen of the 2024 Santiago de la Ribera Carnival!

As the Carnival celebrations in Santiago de la Ribera get into full swing the weekend saw the naming of the adult and junior Carnival Queens, the honours being awarded to Verónica Soler of the Brasilia troupe and Daniela Pérez of Akelarre.

This week is packed full of Carnival events in Santiago, culminating with the grand parade on Sunday February 18 (click here for the full program), and one of the first was the gala at which the Queens were officially elected. This featured competing muses from other troupes such as Akelarre, Makulele and Yembé during a spectacular evening at the Carnival marquee on the gardens of the Príncipe de Asturias.
