Spain weather forecast September 10-13: Temperatures set to climb again after stormy start to the week
Spain is heading into a spell of calmer weather from Thursday, with temperatures climbing steadily over the weekend

Weather outlook on Thursday afternoon, September 10
Spain's weather took a dramatic turn this Wednesday September 9, with a mass of cold air and heavy rain sweeping in and knocking temperatures down by as much as 10°C in some areas. Murcia, the Valencian Community and Catalonia all saw widespread storms, with flooding and cancelled events as the wind picked up through the evening.
The cooler snap won't stick around for long though. From Thursday, that colder air mass will start to retreat and a new ridge of high pressure will move in from the Atlantic, bringing more settled skies and a steady rise in temperatures right through the weekend. It won't be quite as hot as it was at the start of the month, but the warmth is certainly returning for most of the mainland.
Thursday September 10

Temperatures are already climbing again in the north and centre of the country today, even though parts of the southeast Mediterranean coast and the Balearic Islands will see things ease off slightly. The new ridge is pushing the colder air out as it moves in from the Atlantic, bringing a noticeable rise in the Iberian System and the Pyrenees.
Highs above 35°C are only expected in the Guadalquivir Valley, with the odd pocket in the Guadiana Valley in Extremadura. Most of the country will stay under 30°C.
Yellow alerts remain in place for strong winds and rough seas in the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands and Catalonia, while skies elsewhere should stay mostly clear or partly cloudy.
Friday September 11

High pressure moving in from the west will settle things down nicely, with clear or sunny skies expected across the mainland and the Balearic Islands. Temperatures will rise further still, and inland areas like the northern plateau will feel it the most.
Andalucia and Extremadura, particularly the Guadalquivir and Guadiana valleys, could see highs of 35-37°C. Elsewhere, it'll be a more comfortable 25-30°C.
Saturday September 12

The warm up continues, with Galicia seeing the biggest jump. Highs of 33-34°C are on the cards for the southern interior of the region. Temperatures above 30°C will also reach central Spain, the northeastern lowlands, parts of the Mediterranean coast, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands.
It'll stay largely settled elsewhere, with clear or partly cloudy skies for most. The exceptions are the eastern coast, the Strait of Gibraltar and Melilla, where there'll be some cloud cover and a small chance of isolated showers, a bit more likely in Catalonia.
Sunday September 13

Temperatures nudge up slightly once more, with nearly all of inland Spain reaching highs of 30-33°C. Extremadura and inland Andalucia will feel the warmest. Skies stay mostly clear or partly cloudy across most of the mainland.
The northern and eastern thirds may see spells of low cloud and the odd patch of morning fog, and the Strait of Gibraltar and Melilla area will hold onto more persistent low cloud, with a chance of light rain.
