ARCHIVED - Sliding incidence rate approaches 300 mark: Valencia Covid update March 11
14-day cumulative rate in Alicante province and the rest of the region falls 10 points in 24 hours

New daily cases have teetered around the 2,000 mark all week with a marginal increase over the last two days. But the downward trajectory has been restored, at least for the moment, as the Ministry of Health confirms 2,059 new infections since Thursday.
Hospital admissions have dropped significantly and there are 32 fewer patients occupying ward beds than yesterday. More importantly, the 14-day cumulative incidence has dropped 10 points and now stands at 305.59 cases per 100,000.

Coronavirus cases
The regional Ministry of Health has reported 2,059 new cases in the last 24 hours, down from 2,326 on Thursday, 2,154 cases on Wednesday and marginally up on the 1,975 cases reported on Tuesday. This brings the total number of positives since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,315,518 people.
By province: 132 have been recorded in Castellón (157,991 in total), 639 in Alicante (458,433) and 1,288 in Valencia (699,090). The number of unassigned cases remains at four.
According to the health data, there are currently 16,434 active cases, down from 16,956 on Thursday, which represent 1.24% of the total positives.
Hospitalisations
There are currently 531 people admitted to hospital with Covid, 32 less than 24 hours ago, 59 of them in ICU (five less than on Thursday): 78 in the province of Castellón, four in ICU; 169 in the province of Alicante, 19 of them in ICU; and 284 in the province of Valencia, 36 in ICU.
2,573 people have overcome the virus since the last update, which means the total number of recoveries since the start of the pandemic now stands at 1,301,419.
By provinces, the recoveries are distributed as follows: 156,688 in Castellón, 452,869 in Alicante and 691,803 in Valencia. The number of unassigned cases stands at 59.
Fatalities
Eight Covid-related deaths have been reported in the latest update. All of the deaths occurred in the last seven days with the exception of four in January and February, and bring the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis in the Valencia region to 9,106: 1,052 in the province of Castellón, 3,475 in Alicante and 4,579 in Valencia.
The deceased are five women aged between 67 and 95-years-old and three men aged between 63 and 89.
