Dramatic scenes unfolded on a Ryanair flight from Dublin to Fuerteventura on Monday afternoon, April 1, when a four-year-old child fell ill mid-flight, prompting the crew to request urgent medical assistance on the ground.

According to reports from Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) on their official social media account, the pilot alerted authorities at the Enaire control centre in Fuerteventura, who quickly sprang into action to clear the approach for the plane to land as soon and safely as possible.

With time of the essence, the ATC team worked closely with the flight crew to ensure a smooth landing, allowing the plane to touch down on the runway without any further delay.

Once the Ryanair aircraft landed on the Canary Island, medical personnel rushed onto the scene and boarded the plane to tend to the stricken child. Despite initial concerns, they were able to stabilise the young patient and transport him to Fuerteventura General Hospital for further treatment.

The quick thinking and professionalism displayed by both the flight crew and medical staff has drawn widespread praise from passengers, who took to social media to express their gratitude for the calm and efficient handling of a potentially traumatic incident.
