Seville sex toy thieves steal gold-plated vibrators worth 80k
The burglars also made off with 25,000 euros in cash from the Andalucia factory
Spain’s largest distributor of sex toys was looted last week and the creative thieves made off with several valuable vibrators which were dipped in gold and covered in diamonds.
The ‘DreamLove’ factory, located in the town of Carmona in Seville, was targeted by a well-organised criminal gang who investigators believe had inside knowledge of the layout of the premises. Three of the burglars kept watch outside while another three cut the electricity to the building and broke in through the delivery entrance.
As well as stealing around 25,000 euros from the safe, the thieves nabbed several gold-plated erotic toys, each of which is valued at 15,000 euros, and smaller vibrators made from steel which retail for 3,500.
The total haul was worth around 80,000 euros.
According to a company spokesperson, the robbery occurred just after 11.30pm on Wednesday February 1. It’s believed that the thieves were there for the safe, and that the diamond encrusted dildos were an unexpected bonus.
However, he pointed out that the loot will be very difficult to shift on the black market since the vibrators are “rare and easily identifiable products.”
The Seville company is a large exporter of erotic toys in Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella, France and Monaco.
As crimes go, pilfering sex toys isn’t nearly as uncommon as it might seem. Back in 2019, a gang of burglars made off with more than a million GB pounds worth of erotica from the back of a van in Northamptonshire.
The delivery driver had pulled over into a lay-by for a rest and the thieves looted the vehicle while he slept.
