ARCHIVED - Renfe restores AVE train service between Valencia and Sevilla from October 7
The service includes intermediate stops in Cordoba, Puertollano and Cuenca
Renfe's AVE between Valencia and Sevilla will be restored from Friday October 7, with two trains a day, one in each direction, offering passengers the chance to travel between the two cities in just four hours.
The AVE trains will depart daily from Valencia Joaquín Sorolla train station at 9am and from Seville Santa Justa at 6.15pm, with intermediate stops in Cordoba, Puertollano and Cuenca.
The new service will improve the current connections between Cordoba and Valencia, which will be linked in just 3 hours and 20 minutes, speeding up the current connection times by more than 40 minutes.
The AVE will leave Cordoba daily at 7pm and, in the opposite direction, it will arrive from Valencia and Cuenca at 12.24pm.
According to Renfe, the reestablishment of the Seville-Cordoba-Valencia AVE allows the creation of a new connection with Alicante and Albacete by means of a link at Cuenca station. This new option, which will start running on October 7, means that travelling from Seville to Alicante would take 5 hours and 26 minutes, a decrease of 30 minutes.
In addition, the launch of the Valencia-Seville AVE makes it possible to extend the number of current connections between Malaga, Granada and Cadiz with Valencia by means of integrated tickets.
In the case of Malaga, the new travel option departs from Valencia in the morning at 9am and from Malaga at 6pm with an improved journey time of 4 hours and 20 minutes (40 minutes quicker). This new option is made via a link in Cordoba.
The Granada-Valencia connection also gains a new travel option in each direction, linking the new Seville-Valencia at Cordoba station with another AVE train to or from Granada. This brings the number of daily services between Granada and Valencia to seven.
And finally, between Cadiz and Valencia, another travel option has also been added, with a connection in Seville, which will depart daily from the capital of Cadiz at 3.40pm and from Valencia at 9am.
This brings the number of travel options with an integrated ticket between the two cities to six, not including the direct Intercity Torre del Oro Cádiz-Valencia-Barcelona train that runs daily.
