Princess Leonor completes parachute training as her time in Murcia draws to a close
Princess Leonor has completed parachute training at Alcantarilla Air Base and received several civic honours, including the title of adopted daughter of San Javier

Princess Leonor has completed her basic parachute training at the Méndez Parada Military Parachuting School at Alcantarilla Air Base in Murcia, as part of her ongoing military education at the Spanish Air and Space Force Academy in San Javier.
She carried out a series of jumps alongside around 50 fellow cadets, including a night jump, after completing the required ground instruction and preparation. The training is part of the standard programme followed by cadets across Spain’s armed forces and qualifies them to carry out automatic parachute jumps. She is understood to be the first member of the Spanish Royal Family to complete parachute training and carry out a military parachute jump as part of formal armed forces instruction.
Images released from the course show the Princess taking part in briefings, adjusting her equipment, and boarding aircraft with her fellow trainees before carrying out the jumps during recent weeks.
At the end of the course, she and her classmates were awarded certificates and the Paratrooper Badge.
Her time in Murcia was part of her ongoing military training at the Air and Space Academy in San Javier, where she has been based for the past months. During this time, she has taken part in flight training in the Pilatus PC-21 aircraft, including simulator work, operational briefings and solo flight exercises, alongside other cadet training activities.
She has also completed survival exercises, high-G training, and other elements of military preparation, as well as taking part in academy ceremonies and official events.
Alongside her training, Princess Leonor has also been recognised locally, receiving the Gold Medal of the Regional Assembly of Murcia and being named an adopted daughter of San Javier in recognition of her time and connection to the area.
Once she completes her military training, she is expected to continue her studies in Political Science at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, while also continuing her official duties as heir to the Spanish throne.
