Orihuela Costa beaches recognised for outstanding lifeguard and rescue services
Recommendations have also been made to continue improving the services of the Orihuela Costa
The stunning beaches of Orihuela Costa have once again proven their excellence, this time through the recognition of the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC) – the prestigious organisation responsible for bestowing the sought-after Blue Flags.During a recent inspection, ADEAC assessed the lifeguard and rescue services provided by the Orihuela City Council, and the results are impressive.
Manuel Mestre, Councillor for the Coast, proudly shared his satisfaction with the inspection results, particularly highlighting the congratulations received for the lifeguard service provided by the dedicated company ‘Ambumar’.
“This year we are happy with the results of the inspection that the beaches of Orihuela Costa have passed,” he said.
“We have a long-standing working relationship with them (Ambumar) and we are very happy with their performance.”
According to Ambumar’s coordinator Nacho Lorente, the beach rescue and lifeguard service in Orihuela includes a rapid response vehicle, two ambulances with advanced and basic life support, as well as rescue motorcycles and a 6-metre zodiac emergency response boat, “ensuring an effective response to any emergency, both aquatic and terrestrial, in the vicinity.”But it’s not just about the state-of-the-art equipment; the heart of this service lies in the dedication and expertise of the Ambumar team, Mr Lorente said, as well as “the effort to raise awareness among the population about safety in these environments, where our lifeguards often face challenging situations.”
The inspection didn’t just focus on the positives; ADEAC also provided valuable recommendations and suggestions for further enhancing the beach services and facilities.
The lifeguard service will be operational until September 1 between the hours of 10am and 8pm.
