ARCHIVED - New flagship IKEA store in Almeria set to open in July 2023
The Swedish multinational is two months into the construction of a “unique” branch in Almeria which will be a “pioneer” worldwide
Just eight weeks into the construction of a new state-of-the-art store in the Rambla, Almeria, Swedish firm IKEA has revealed “work is advancing” at a considerable pace and the branch looks set to open in July 2023.
The multinational company has high hopes for the store, the first XS shop model of its kind in Spain, and a “pioneering model worldwide”, equipped with the latest innovations in logistics so that it can also serve as a distribution centre to different areas around Almeria.
The structure can already be seen next to the roundabout at the A-7 junction on the Rambla, and once completed will cover 25,524.79m2, with a retail and exhibition area of 7,938.55m2. A further 4,000m2 will dedicated to car parks, offices and a restaurant.
Provided there are no major setbacks in the coming months, IKEA maintains “the store will open in the summer of 2023”.
“This new XS shop formula has been not explored before and will open for the first time in Spain with Almeria as a pioneer worldwide,” added the world’s largest furniture retailer.
In addition to storming ahead with the construction of the new outlet, IKEA has also launched the first phase of a major recruitment drive focusing initially on managerial positions.
“Our most widespread recruitment campaign will actually take place in the first couple of months of next year,” added the firm.
