ARCHIVED - Mazarron Town Hall to spend 17 million euros on road and infrastructure improvements
A forward-looking investment in services and infrastructures throughout the municipality of Mazarrón
The Town Hall of Mazarrón reports that the council has approved plans for the spending of over 17 million euros on improvements to roads and infrastructures in various parts of the municipality, including the town itself, Puerto de Mazarrón and outlying districts.
Among the projects which have been given the green light the costliest is the one to adapt and improve Avenida José Alarcón Palacios in Puerto de Mazarrón. This is the stretch of the main road along the seafront behind the beaches of La Reya, La Pava, Bahía and Nares, and the work is budgeted to cost just under 5 million euros (precisely 4,945,991.95 euros, according to the Town Hall figures).
Also in Puerto de Mazarrón is work to improve Avenida Doctor Meca (3,542,305.38 euros) and Avenida del Mediterráneo (777,540.66 euros), while other projects focus on Avenida Segado del Olmo in Bolnuevo, Calle Isla Escombreras and neighbouring streets in Puerto de Mazarrón and the creation of an improved drainage system at the junction of Calle Sierra de las Moreras and Calle Lomo Bas.
At the same time, it is envisaged that the Casa de la Cañadica in Mazarrón will be restored at a cost of 1,443,785.70 euros.
Similarly, work is to be carried out on rural roads including Camino Costa y Collado Blanco in Las Moreras, Camino Casa Tejada in Cañada de Gallego and others, while a skate park, calisthenics and parkour area are to be created in Mazarrón. On the topic of sports facilities, artificial grass will be laid on two football pitches and a pergola will provide shade for spectators in the north stand at the Complejo Deportivo.
With a view to improving facilities for summer tourists, plans are also included to replace and update lifeguard points, foot showers and wooden walkways at the main beaches, while the budgeted expense also makes provision for almost a million euros to be invested in maintenance and repairs at the 12 public primary and secondary schools in the municipality.
