Mazarron set to become an official Magical Town of Spain
The town of Mazarrón is the first municipality in the Region of Murcia to be included in the Network of Magical Towns
The incorporation of the municipality recognises the cultural, historical and natural wealth of the municipality, as well as its commitment to sustainable development and tourism promotion.
Mazarrón has been incorporated into the Network of Magical Towns of Spain for 2025, becoming the first municipality in the Region of Murcia to receive this important recognition. The announcement was made by Mazarrón Mayor, Ginés Campillo, accompanied by the Councillor for Culture, Jorge Durán, who highlighted the importance this achievement has for the promotion of tourism and the comprehensive development of the municipality.
The Network of Magical Towns of Spain is a non-profit organisation, whose purpose is the development of tourism and the associated territorial facilities of its member towns.
To be included in the network the organisation analyses each municipality under strict criteria such as sustainability, cultural wealth, gastronomy and urban planning. These elements have been positively identified in the initiatives carried out in Mazarrón which are aimed to guarantee of balance between progress and the conservation of its identity.
According to Mayor Ginés Campillo, this recognition is the result of joint work aimed at promoting Mazarrón as a tourist destination of excellence. He also stressed that work will continue to strengthen local infrastructure, with special emphasis on access, the sanitation network and the improvement of public spaces.
The Network of Magical Towns stands out for promoting collaboration between municipalities and the promotion of joint projects, such as the eighteen magical routes that run through Spain. Mazarrón, by being part of this network, reinforces its commitment to sustainable development, the care of its heritage and the promotion of its traditions, consolidating itself as an example of how collective effort can transform a territory into a unique destination.
