Mazarron Council technicians start to illuminate some public roads on Camposol urbanisation
As a consequence of a recent meeting, council technicians have been working to re-illuminate some of the areas that were recently in the dark

A new problem had arisen which was explained by the technicians. Over recent years, electricity supply company Iberdrola have been installing new meters on the public street lighting infrastructure throughout the municipality which are controlled remotely from the Iberdrola Headquarters in Madrid. These new meters have an electrical power limit in line with EU regulations and after the meter is activated in Madrid, if the power demand exceeds the power limit it will automatically shut down the electrical power supply. Unfortunately, when the street lighting infrastructure was installed in the urbanisation the meters and regulations were different allowing more lights to be linked to each meter, but with the new meters the power requirements on some circuits are overloading the limiters and automatically shutting down.
The technicians have been working on a stop-gap remedy that involves reducing the amount of street lights in order to reduce the power consumption to a level under that which would trip the limiter. Work has been carried out over the last week and lights has been restored to polígono B5 and also around the B Sector Commercial Centre.

President of the Camposol Business Association, Julie Townsend said, “Its good that the solution has worked for these two areas, especially as the commercial centre is busy after dark particularly with the holiday season coming up. I hope the technicians can get more areas illuminated on other sectors.”
