May 16-30 Free activities in Alhama de Murcia for International Museum Day
Immerse yourself in Alhama’s museum scene with two weeks of exciting events
International Museum Day is celebrated each year on May 18 to highlight the importance of museums in society, share knowledge, encourage dialogue and inspire reflection on the role of museums in the present and future.This year, Alhama de Murcia is going one step further and has scheduled a whole host of exciting free events between Thursday May 16 and Thursday May 30.
Here’s the line-up for 2024 International Museum Day in Alhama:
Thursday May 16
Round Table: “Art and Nature”. The artists from the exhibition ‘Landscape’, ‘Personal Territory.
Where: Exhibition Hall of the Los Baños Archaeological Museum.
When: 8pm.
Friday May 17
Inauguration: “Archeology Laboratory of the Los Baños de Alhama de Murcia Archaeological Museum”.
Where: Plaza Vieja Cultural Centre.
When: 1pm
Thursday May 23
Archeology Conference: “Results of the Excavations at c/ vergara pérez, nº 8 (antigua c/ empedrá)”.
Speaker: Juan Antonio Ramírez Águila (Archaeologist).
Where: Los Baños Archaeological Museum.
When: 8pm
Friday, May 24
Opening of the exhibition: “Work From The Dry Rope And Patchwork Workshops Of The Ceres Association”.
Where: El Pósito Exhibition Center.
When: 8pm. Until June 8.
Choral concert: “Miu And The 4 Elements”. Meeting of white voice choirs Totana and Alhama de Murcia.
Where: Velasco Cinema Theatre.
When: 9pm – free entry until concert venue is full.
Saturday May 25
Guided visits: “Open For Works: El Castillo Deposit”.
Where: Free registration at the Los Baños Tourism Office and Archaeological Museum.
When: 10am
Inauguration of the exhibition: “Standard And Historical Musical Instruments: La Aurora de Alhama” with performance of La Aurora.
Where: Los Baños Archaeological Museum.
When: 6pm.
Sunday May 26
Guided visits: “Las Paleras Deposit”.
Registration: 3 euros for adults and 2 euros for children (from 3 to 12 years old) at the Tourist Office and online.
When: 10am.
Thursday May 30
Presentation: “Web And Virtual Reality Station Of The Las Paleras Deposit”.
Where: Los Baños Archaeological Museum.
When: 12.30pm.
