An autopsy is being carried out at the Murcia Institute of Legal Medicine to try and find out more about the cause of death.
The Carlos III wall dates back to the 18th century, and is one of the most recognisable landmarks in Cartagena.
The incident has caused consternation amongst the local population due to the busy area where the body was found, so close to the port.
