ARCHIVED - Malaga rocked by second earthquake in 24 hours
The earthquake shook the Costa del Sol late on Monday night
The National Geographic Institute (IGN) has registered a 3.9 magnitude earthquake on Monday night, September 26, with an epicentre southeast of the Malaga town of Benalmádena. This is the second large tremor to shake the province in less than 24 hours.
The latest earthquake occurred at 10.30pm and was felt with intensity 3 on the Richter scale in Malaga city.
According to the IGN, the quake was recorded at a depth of 71 kilometres. The emergency services in Andalucia didn’t receive any calls from concerned citizens and no material damage or personal injury was reported.
In the early hours of the same morning, another earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale with an epicentre in Malaga was felt in several neighbouring municipalities, including Fuengirola and Mijas.
Again, no damage was reported as a result.
